Our Eye Doctor

Eye care professionals specialize in understanding how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision—many of which do not always have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses, both as eyeglass lenses and contact lenses.

Dr. Sherman takes the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describes your options and listens to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.

Meet our doctor:

Dr. David Sherman

Dr. David Sherman

Dr. Sherman is a 1980 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1984. After practicing in Western Pennsylvania for two years, Dr. Sherman moved to Oceanside, California and in 1987 established his private optometric practice. His office has been at the same Tri-City location for nearly 25 years.
Dr. Sherman is known for his experience and success in fitting contact lenses with specialization in all types of disposable lenses, as well as the more challenging astigmatic, oxygen permeable and bifocal contact lenses.
We now also offer Corneal Refractive Therapy, a non-surgical approach to vision correction.
Dr. Sherman is DPA and TPA certified and has been actively co-managing his refractive surgery patients seeking PRK (Photo-refractive Keratectomy) and LASIK (Laser Assisted in-Situ Keratomuleusis). He is affiliated with the La Jolla offices of the NVision Laser Eye Center, San Diego's leader in laser vision correction.
Dr. Sherman and his wife Patti, an elementary school teacher, reside in North San Diego County with their three children. He has been involved in community activities including diabetic vision screenings at Vista Community Clinic, participating optometrist for Vision U.S.A. and an active membership in the Kiwanis Club of Sunrise Vista.
His professional memberships include the American Optometric Association, the California Optometric Association and is currently on the board of the San Diego County Optometric Society.
